We set out to restore the original spirit of this 1930s deco home within a modern design. The house had previously undergone renovations that stripped away its unique deco characteristics. Our intention was not to replicate the era but instead to reference the style. A major challenge we faced was reconfiguring the traditional architectural layout into a contemporary open plan. We drew inspiration from the repetitive patterns of the deco era and installed a double helix circular staircase – its sculptural form providing a stunning visual anchor to base our design around. The final result revolutionised the space by reimagining deco design, and in the process, created an entirely new living experience.
